Is Online Gambling Legal?

The increasing popularity of online gambling has created a storm in the world of gaming and betting. However, the biggest ongoing debate these days is bout the legal status of online gambling. As you hear different things from different sources, it becomes difficult to decide what is, in fact, the truth. And knowing the truth of this matter is of supreme importance to anyone who enjoys either the thrill of casino like games of chance, or the high of sports betting. After all, you don’t want to win big, and have your winnings confiscated by the government as illegal, or worse, end up being prosecuted for having a little harmless fun!

So what is the truth after all? The fact is, unfortunately, that it’s not that simple. One cannot give you a blanket statement saying its either legal or illegal. Different states of the union have different laws regarding online gambling even at the best gambling sites. In addition, laws regarding betting or playing at the best gambling sites differ from country to country. So, depending on where you are physically located, and where your best gambling site is hosted, the legal status of your bet may vary. In the United States for example, the federal wire ct prohibits any kind of electronic transmission of information for sports betting, especially over the phone, the Internet, or any other form of telecommunication. However, according to a 2002 ruling of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, The Federal Wire Act does not apply the same embargo on online gambling involving casino games and other such games of chance.

However, as with most things, various states have different laws that place prohibitions on gambling of any kind on the Internet. In addition, it is illegal to own even one of the best gambling sites in the US without the proper and appropriate licensing. As a rule, online gaming licenses are not currently being issued by any of the states.

The concerns are twofold, problem gambling, and money laundering. The government is concerned that the easy nature of access to best gambling sites online makes it easier for people to get addicted, leading to an increase in problem gambling. In addition, since the Internet is a place of anonymity, and money transfers are anonymous and protected by encryption, it is not only difficult, but close to impossible to trace people engaging in these games and transactions to facilitate online money laundering. As a result, a number of the best gambling sites have had to suspend real money gambling for their US customers. Since 2005 however, states like North Dakota have tried to legalize some online games such as poker, and are ready to regulate the operators of those games in their home states. The 2007introduction of the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act has helped to provide a possibility for the licensing of the best Internet gambling sites. The same year, the Skill Game Protection Act was introdu

ced, to legalize Internet and casino games that involve skill such as poker or chess.

As for the rest of the world, it is legal for Australian residents to play online poker or casino games at the best gambling sites, and even bet on sports online. In many countries of the European union and the Caribbean too, a number of the games involved in online gambling are legal.

I’m hosting an event at my school and we’d like to have poker, blackjack and other casino games as an activity. However, we are not permitted to gamble. Does anyone know any alternatives?
Okay, sorry, I should have been more specific. No gambling of any kind can be involved, not even for innanimate objects, cookies, treats, plastic chips, etc. However, we want the general feel of an old fashioned casino. For example, we plan to play blackjack as the gambling aspect can be removed entirely without taking away from the card game itself. Does anyone know how to do this with poker or any other similar games that would fit these criteria?

I love my Husband very much and I never would’ve thought he’d be so quick to put our home in jeopardy. At my request and him idenifying there’s a serious problem…He called and is going to be seeing a therapist to understand what led him to this problem and I’m more then willing to help in anyway possible. This just hurts me so much, he lost money and I feel like I have the weight of the whole world on my shoulders. :( How do you get this bitter feeling to go away? :( (
We have no children and have been married over a year (together 6)

I did tell him that if this happens again I cannot let him take me down with him…this will cost him our marriage…
House payment is already mailed…I would never let that happen….
Luckily I can cover his half do to an EXTRA incentive work I do at my job–working through my lunch/breaks… I just worry that bailing him out it showing him it’s okay…

casinos are opening up all over the country and people go to casinos for entertainment and a place to be alone to get away from their problems outside of the casino, but they can make a big problem in the casino, it’s called compulsive gambling and my own definition is gambling more than what you can afford to gamble with, people are invisible to this disease and say i don’t have a problem, the ones that rack the credit cards, the ones that don’t have a pot to piss in, they have the problem, i know many people like this cause i was once a gambler, the life of a gambler is a lonely life, espn should not put poker on the channel cause younger dumber guys get involved in a game that really just supports commercialism and you really should play cheap 5 dollar games with your buddies if you ask me, i heard of people getting thousands and tens of thousands in debt, maybe even hundred thousands as well, so here is how i will tell you how to CONTROL your gambling HABITS
you start by putting 1000 in savings and then you set your PERCENTAGE of income you want to gamble with, if you don’t like to go broke spend 3% of it, if you like to gamble a lot spend 10% of it, so say you make 1000 bucks gamble 100 bucks, then when you have 3000 bucks in savings bring 200 bucks, then when you have 6000 bucks bring 300……cause you already gambled 10% of 1000, 10% of 2000, and 10% of 3000……100 + 200 + 300 = 600 = 10% of 6000, you see…..you only gamble a FIXED PERCENTAGE OF YOUR INCOME, hope this helps! what’s cool too is you can bring more and more, like 100 buck increases, so your odds of winning go up as your bankroll goes up!

Until recently, I’ve never met my father, but my mother is always saying “You’re just like your father.” Whenever I would ask her to explain what she meant, she wouldn’t answer me.

Now, I’m 21 years old and I love playing cards and gambling. I’ve been playing poker since I was 8 years old. I started sneaking into casinos at 16. Recently, I met my father and we decided to spend some time together. The first place he took me was a casino! He started telling me about himself and I found out that he’s an avid gambler too. We also have a lot of other things in common like the way we laugh and walk and talk. It’s so weird.

Anywhoo, I was wondering if it’s possible for things like this to be a part of your DNA or something like that?

I know of no instances in my childhood or family life where gambling has ever featured. I don’t have a father who lost the house on a game of blackjack or anything of the sort.

For a very long while I’ve wanted to learn to play Poker. This weekend my boyfriend tried to teach me and I broke down into tears as soon as he mentioned a blind bet.

This surprised both of us. I just shivered and cried for a good 20 minutes, in which he tried to identify what the problem was. I didn’t even want the poker chips near me, they weren’t even realistic ones, just very small ones that came in a poor quality poker set.

This was in my bedroom, it was daylight, there were only us two present and we weren’t going to play for money, so it was familiar surroundings and nothing that should have triggered that reaction.

I’m worried! Obviously I don’t have a life ambition to gamble in a fully fledged casino, so it is not a major problem, but I’m still puzzled as to why this happened.

I was raised Catholic but haven’t practiced for a long while, and I don’t know if anything in the doctrine talked about gambling?

I would just really like to know where this issue lies.
